Libra Industries of Michigan, Inc. was founded in Jackson, Michigan in 1969, combining personal safety with environmental integrity to provide glove cleaning, restoration and recycling services to manufacturers. Because of their expertise in the field Libra expanded to also distribute gloves, safety products and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Over the next 30 years, both aspects of the business continued to grow consistently, leading to an expansion of Libra’s service area throughout Michigan, as well as to the states of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Ohio. More floor space was needed to house new equipment and compensate for the increase in clients and orders. Instead of moving to a larger warehouse, Libra built additions to the original warehouse, maintaining a loyal connection to Jackson.

An influx of customer requests for work apparel led to the development of a third division for uniforms, work apparel, embroidery and silk-screening. The Work Apparel division found success instantly, and quickly grew to offer a full line of work apparel, safety clothing and image wear from over 300 domestic and international manufacturers who demonstrated an adherence to Libra’s own meticulous quality standards.

The Absorb Pro Division was introduced for absorbent management and offered a recycling program designed to assist customers in the minimization and management of waste associated with industrial absorbents. By using a closed-loop process, Absorb Pro extracts waste from specially designed absorbent materials, leaving a cleaned reusable product that can be used over and over again. Absorb Pro offers customers cost savings on disposal and it’s good for the environment.

Today, Libra has applied the successful core principles of PPE distribution and added industrial supplies to the list of products sold to accounts across the country. Libra is now a full line supplier, offering single source solutions for their customers.

As the largest glove cleaning and restoration operation in the country, Libra continues to move forward and expand to new markets while maintaining a balanced focus on personal safety, industrial product offerings, uniforms and environmental integrity
